Accessibility

We strive to make our church a welcoming and safe place for everyone. Please read on for how St Saviour’s offers accessibility and safety.

Entering the church

We have two entrances into the church building. The entrance on the right-hand side (as you look at the building from the road) has a step-free ramp leading up the the doorway. The left-hand entrance has steps, but we always place a moveable ramp here for services and events.

Inside the church

Our worship space is on two levels. The lower level, together with the coffee area, the halls where our youth church meets, and the toilets, are all on one level and are step-free. The upper level of our worship space (which is at the back of the church) is currently only accessible via steps.

Parking

There are a good number of parking spaces immediately outside the church, on both sides of the road. But please note that on weekdays, vehicles are prohibited from entering our section of Cobbold Road between 8 and 9.30am, and between 2.30 and 4pm. This Monday to Friday restriction is in place between the junctions of Hartswood Road and Becklow Road. There are cameras to monitor this and fines are issued, so please take care parking.

Seating

We sit on wooden chairs without armrests, although we do have a few chairs which have arms. Please ask if you would like one. Everyone is free to sit wherever suits them best.

Toilets

We have an accessible toilet which is on the right-hand side as you face the front. To find it, go through the door in the glass screen near the font, and it is straight ahead of you.

Worship songs and liturgy

The words for our worship songs, and for our communion liturgy, are displayed on the large TV screens at the front of our worship area.

Holy communion

We gather around the carpeted area at the front of the church for holy communion. If you would like communion brought to you instead, please let us know before or during the service. Our wafers are gluten-free and we offer a choice of non-alcoholic wine.

Nut allergies

We work to create a safe environment for anyone with severe nut allergies. We minimise the risk of allergic reactions by prohibiting nuts and products which contain nuts from our building. Please see the notices in church, and help us by following this rule.

Accessibility is a work in progress, so please let us know how you experience our church by using the contact form below.
