Night prayer on Tuesday

In a busy city that constantly demands our attention, we offer a safe, quiet space every Tuesday evening. Night prayer is a wonderful way to finish the day, reflecting on where we are in our lives, and resting in the goodness of God.

We meet in the church for a short service (15-20 mins) of prayers and psalms, with a time of quiet and stillness from about 7.45pm. The service itself starts at 8pm.

Night prayer is the final service of the day in the Christian monastic tradition, and dates back to the 6th century. It is also known as Compline, from the Latin word completorium, for the ‘completion’ of the day.

Save us, O Lord, while waking,
and guard us while sleeping,
that awake we may watch with Christ
and asleep may rest in peace.
